Position: Retail Sales & Store Operations Associate
Schedule: Minimum 30 hours per week; flexible availability

About the Position

Foote Family Meats is looking for an outgoing, motivated, dependable individual to join our team and help manage day-to-day operations at our retail meat market.

We're looking for someone who is a self-starter, can provide exceptional customer service, manage inventory, coordinate customer orders, and help create an outstanding shopping experience.

Our business is built on quality products, genuine relationships, and exceptional customer service. Previous knowledge of meat products or the cattle industry is NOT required. However, a willingness to learn is essential. We will train the right person on our products, beef quality, cattle feeding practices, and the brands we sell so they can confidently educate customers and make product recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

• Greet and engage customers in a friendly, welcoming, and professional manner.
• Build relationships with customers through genuine conversation, product knowledge, and attentive service.
• Answer questions, make product recommendations, and help customers find solutions that fit their needs.
• Develop a strong understanding of our products, beef production practices, and business operations to confidently communicate with customers.
• Handle customer concerns professionally and work with management to find solutions.
• Process purchases, manage transactions, and accurately handle cash and electronic payments.
• Answer phone calls, respond to customer inquiries, and assist with orders.

Retail Store Operations & Inventory

• Maintain organization, presentation, cleanliness, and overall appearance of the retail sales floor.
• Monitor inventory levels, restock merchandise, and keep displays, coolers, and freezers properly stocked.
• Receive, check, organize, and rotate inventory while maintaining accurate records.
• Help identify inventory needs, product shortages, and opportunities to improve store operations.
• Maintain attractive, organized product displays and ensure merchandise is accurately labeled and priced.
• Assist with product packaging, labeling, merchandising, and other daily retail tasks.

Customer Orders & Technology

• Receive, organize, and coordinate incoming customer orders, including phone, online, and in-store orders.
• Monitor order deadlines and communicate with the production team to ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.
• Utilize point-of-sale systems, online ordering platforms, inventory tools, and other business technology.
• Maintain accurate order information and communicate clearly with customers and team members.
• Assist with additional administrative, sales, and operational projects as needed.

Teamwork & Initiative

• Work closely with management and the meat-cutting team to keep store operations efficient.
• Recognize what needs to be done and take initiative without waiting for constant direction.
• Be willing to step outside regular responsibilities and help wherever needed.
• Use downtime productively by identifying tasks, improving organization, and supporting daily operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be available to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Strong math skills and the ability to handle transactions and inventory accurately.
• Strong computer and technology skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
• Willingness to learn about meat products, beef quality, cattle feeding practices, and our business.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred but Not Required:

Previous experience in retail, sales, customer service, communications, marketing, or another customer-facing position that required strong interpersonal skills, relationship building, and independent responsibility.

We value relevant experience, but personality, work ethic, initiative, and the ability to connect with customers are our top priorities.
